Mobile Phones Policy

To ensure the wellbeing and safeguarding of all of our pupils, pupils are not allowed to bring smartphones into school. If a pupil is found with a smartphone in their possession, it will be confiscated and their parent/carer will be contacted to come to the school office and the end of the school day to collect it in person. If a pupil repeatedly brings a smartphone to school, it will be classed as a safeguarding risk to that pupil and others pupils, and a safeguarding referral to social care will occur.
Further information on the risks smartphones pose to pupils can be found in the following Department for Education link:
If you believe it is necessary for your child to have a basic non-smartphone to support them travelling to and from school , permission will be needed from the Headteacher (Rebecca Gittins) and these phones will be handed in to the class teacher each day for security purposes.

A movement called Smartphone Free Childhood has spread rapidly across the UK this year. This movement looks at the impact of mobile phone use on children’s mental and physical wellbeing.
As a school, we have joined this pact as we see on a daily basis the impact that mobile phone use is having on our children’s sleep, concentration, activeness, communication skills and mental wellbeing.
