Meet Our Year 6 Sports Leaders!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Every year, we select eight enthusiastic Year 6 pupils to become our official Sports Leaders. These students are passionate about staying active and are eager to develop their communication and leadership skills.<\/p>\n

Our leaders don\u2019t just play sports\u2014they lead them! During weekly sessions, they run a 30-minute session for their peers, teaching new games while learning how to manage groups effectively. You\u2019ll also see them in action during whole-school events, where they work hard behind the scenes to organise teams and make sure every school competition runs like clockwork.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

PE CURRICULUM<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The core principle of PE at Welbeck Primary is simple: we want every child to enjoy being active. Our lessons are designed for \"maximal activity,\" ensuring students spend their time learning by doing and achieve success in their own individual way. We also believe that the sports field is the perfect classroom for personal growth, and with our holistic approach to PE, pupils don\u2019t just become more physically competent \u2014they become more resilient and respectful individuals. Our journey begins in with fundamental skill-building and locomotor development, which evolves into sports-based mastery as children progress through Key Stage 2. As well as this, we are proud to provide swimming lessons to every year group throughout the academic year, ensuring all children develop this crucial life skill. During each term pupils visit The Portland Centre, where pupils receive six weeks of professional instruction to build confidence, stroke technique, and water safety awareness. By providing consistent access to the pool from Year 1 to Year 6, we ensure that every student has the opportunity to become a capable and safe swimmer.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

EXTRA CURRICULAR<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

To further promote student participation in sports and physical activity before, during, and after the school day, we provide a wide range of extracurricular clubs. Students can begin their day with exercise by jogging laps around our local park as part of the Kilometre Club, a whole school program that runs Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 am to 8:45 am. The goal is to beat their own personal best, special recognition is given to individuals who have demonstrated effort and perserverance each term, as well as prizes for the most kilometers ran. In addition, we offer after-school programs in a number of sports every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday as well as basketball club on a Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Welbeck Primary School students have numerous opportunities to represent their school in a range of athletic competitions, leagues, and festivals. We participate in sports including athletics, dodgeball, touch rugby, and more at the many School Sport Festivals held each term in close collaboration with Nottinghamshire Sport. We have a competitive school football squad that plays against other local schools in the Nottingham Schools Football League. Additionally, there is a girl\u2019s team that competes in several tournaments throughout the year, including the Notts County Primary Stars Cup. We are also proud to host a number of in-school events, including the Easter Run, Welbeck Wimbledon, Welbeck World Cup, and Sports Days.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Football Team<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Well done to the Y5\/6 Football team who completed a great season of school football, finishing 4th<\/sup>\u00a0in the Nottingham Schools Football League. Following the end of the season we entered the TB Sports Cup and achieved a 3rd<\/sup> place finish in the tournament. All players represented the school in an extremely positive way and should be proud of their achievements.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

PUPIL PREMIUM AND SEN PROVISION<\/h4>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

At Welbeck Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to shine, regardless of their starting point or background. We proactively work to remove barriers to participation for our Pupil Premium students and those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) by providing tailored support and additional opportunities to engage in physical activity. This is through the use of adaptive equipment and weekly targeted interventions, ensuring our PESSPA offering is inclusive and accessible to all. As well as this, pupils go on off-site visits for activities such as Horse Riding and Swimming, providing further memorable experiences.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>
